QUESTION NO. 3

QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff

To ask the Manager to indicate if there are any plans in place to erect flags on the public lighting poles, on the N81, from Templeogue Village to Kingswood Village, to celebrate The Gathering, as happened for the Tour de France stage, when it passed through the County Town in 1998?

REPLY:

When the Tour de France passed through Tallaght in 1998, it was a one-day event whereas the Gathering 2013 consists of a series of very different events around the County across the calendar year.

There will be bunting at many of the events along with other Gathering promotional material and marketing signage. Some of the events will be held indoors while others will be held outdoors, so there will be different circumstances in each case.

In addition to the traditional marketing tools and techniques such as flyers, radio, tv and newpaper coverage, social media tools will be used to inform the general public of the events happening mainly close to the events, and to promote them so as to maximise particpation and attendance.
