QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney
"To ask the Manager if it will be possible for community organisations in premises other than Council-recognised Community Centres (e.g. sports clubs, scouts dens, etc) may be considered to take part in the Tallaght SEC project for the purposes of energy conservation, and to make a statement on the matter?"
REPLY:
South Dublin County Council, through the Tallaght SEC Project aims to disseminate information on energy saving and reducing carbon emissions to the wider community. This is being achieved through the provision of workshops which are open to the public; the first of these were held at the ‘Connect with Energy’ event in June 2012 and through guidance information which is available to download from the SDCC ‘Connect with Energy’ website.
As a result of experience gained in auditing our larger buildings, SDCC Architectural Services Department are preparing a document which will assist managers of any building in the community to operate in a more energy efficient manner.
The Document will give guidance on how to use energy information, to save energy and reduce energy bills, to enable building managers to make accurate and cost effective decisions in building operation and maintenance.
