MOTION: Councillor C. King
"That this Committee calls on the Manager to provide a report on what efforts are being made to ensure that Greyhound waste disposal are fulfilling their obligations by removing bins from households that have transfered their business to another provider in the Tallaght area and what advice can be provided to householders of which there are many that have been unable to have their bins removed despite their best efforts".
REPORT:
South Dublin County Council ceased its involvement in the waste collection business at the end of March 2011. Services are now provided exclusively by the private sector. The Council has no further involvement in these services.
As with any private business, standards and quality of performance in customer service and price are a matter for the companies involved and their customers. Consumers are protected under Consumer Rights arrangements and should consult the National Consumer Agency for advice and information.
