QUESTION NO. 8

QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

"That the Manager give a report on the cleaning/sweeping of Palmerston Village and streets and of Manor Road and to include the cleansing schedule for bothas both areas have been allowed fall back into a very dirty state."

REPLY:

There is a Handcart operative based in Palmerston area and his route covers the following:

·         A daily litter pick and sweep of Kennelsfort Road lower

·         A daily litter pick and sweep of the Old Lucan Road.

·         A twice weekly litter pick and sweep of the N4 footpath, The Oval, Manor Farm, Woodfarm Avenue and Kennelsfort Road Upper.

The Green Machine is scheduled for use twice weekly in the following areas:

·         The Oval, Manor Farm, Woodfarm Avenue

·         Kennelsfort Road upper, Kennelsfort Road Lower

·         The Lucan Road.

The Council also operates a weekly litter bin service Monday to Friday and the roads within the area are swept by Oxigen on the Council’s behalf.

 Abandoned waste is removed by the local depots following the inspection by litter wardens to determine ownership of the material.

 The matter of the standard of workmanship will be brought to the attention of the supervisory staff.
