MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

Monday, May 13, 2013

MOTION NO. 1

MOTION: Councillor T. Gilligan

That this Council initiates a compost waste recycling scheme whereby residents can drop off produce that could be used for composting, gardening throughout different parks in the county, Séan Walsh Park, Corkagh Park...

REPORT:

The Council provides a facility for residents to dispose of green waste at the Civic and Amenity Centre in Ballymount. In addition, the companies providing household waste services in the county are required to provide a brown bin through which residents can dispose of green waste.

The proposed facilities would be waste facilities and would be subject to the full regulatory requirements of licensing, monitoring and capital investment. Experience in this county has shown such facilities to be non viable in the past.

The Council has no plans to introduce such facilities over and above what has been provided already.
