QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"To ask the Manager to ensure that demountable ramps, similar to those eventually installed at the Griffeen Avenue zebra-crossing, will be installed at any further zebra-crossings to be provided on main (non-estate) roads in the Lucan Area; including as part of the Willsbrook Road cycle upgrade scheme?"

REPLY:

The Design of each zebra crossing must be considered on its own merits in compliance with the various Design Manuals, including the Traffic Signs Manual, the NTA Cycle Manual and DMURS as well as any other factor that may influence the design including location. We now have approval from the NTA, following our submission, to complete the design of the Willsbrook Cycle Track upgrade which includes for zebra crossings on raised platforms at the rounabouts. The approved platforms will be in accordance with the Cycle Manual and will not be demountable.
