QUESTION NO. 1
QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
"To ask the Manager, noting the report on Motion (6) of the Lucan Area Committee Meeting of 26th February 2013 re a possible project involving young people living in Palmerston working with Allotment Holders, if the Community Department has made any progress in assessing the proposed project, and to suggest that the Council might contact the Principal of Palmerston Community School regarding the possibility be run as a Transtion Year Project with the school?"
REPLY:
The Community team will engage with the local youth services, Foróige, to gauge the level of interest and feasibility of linking young people in the area with the allotment holders. However the new legislation around child protection may inhibit their interaction. Clarification will have to be sought to determine if Garda vetting would be required. Contact will be made with the Principal of Palmerston Community School to examine the Transition Year option.
