MOTION: Councillor C. Jones

"That the Manager will give every support to clubs in Lucan and Palmerston in making applications to the Irish Amateur Boxing Association to avail of a share of the recently announced 1 million euro fund to upgrade boxing facilities." 

REPORT:

The Minister of State for Tourism & Sport, Michael Ring announced a special allocation of 1 million capital funding to be administered by the Irish Amateur Boxing Association on 10th April 2013. 'Eligible clubs will be able to make improvements to facilities like dressing rooms, showers, toilets and heating. There will be a particular focus on providing facilities for women boxers.

The Community Services Dept will continue to assist all voluntary organisations and groups in sourcing funding to enhance the delivery of facilities and services.
