QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor M. McDonagh

To ask the Manager to give a report on the problems currently being experienced at Deansrath Park (address supplied) including illegal dumping & rat infestation, to detail the work that is currently taking place at this address or that is planned for this address and to indicate when this unit will be allocated?

REPLY:

The property was damaged following a fire in December 2012. The full electrical re-wiring of the property including extension built under medical grounds was completed last week. Following these works the building contractor was scheduled to start internal repairs this week and it is expected that the works will be completed within the 2-3 weeks. These works include replacement of the staircase, replacement of kitchen units and internal decoration works. It would be expected that the keys can then be returned to the tenants within 24 hours of completion of the works and suitable advance notice will be given to them at this stage.

Some illegal dumping was carried out at the property following the fire, the materials were removed by Housing Maintenance and there has been no further encroachment at this address. The area Clerk of Works reports that there is no evidence of rat infestation at the property.
