Illegal dumping in the vicinity of Samildanach GAA Sports Club
REPORT:
Further to the report that was presented to this Committee on the 20th March 2013 it was agreed to investigate incidents of fines that were issued to residents in the locality. The following fines were issued in relation to illegal dumping:
- Greenfort Estate - 13 fines issued
- Glenfield Estate - 4 fines issued
- St Marks Estate - 4 fines issued
- Harelawn Estate - 6 fines issued
There have been no fines issued in relation to illegal dumping on the Coldcut Road.
The Coldcut Road is included on the Road Sweeping Schedule and is swept once a month in line with this schedule. It was last swept on the 5th April 2013 and is scheduled to be swept again on Friday 3rd May 2013.
The lands in question where the illegal dumping is occurring is in private ownership. However, the Litter Warden is available to investigate an further occurrences and pursue any evidence arising to a prosecution under the Litter Pollution Act 1997. Access to the site is dependant on the club's personnel making contact with the Litter Warden to report such incidents and allowing direct access to carry out any investigation necessary.
