QUESTION NO. 10
QUESTION: Councillor M. McDonagh
To ask the Manager to provide a report on the issue of unfinished estates in the Clondalkin local electoral area including whether any estates in the LEA were considered by the Council for proposed inclusion in the Department of Environment's list of unfinished estates for exclusion from the House Charge and the revised list for the Local Property Tax and in this context to ask the Manager to detail why Ballynakelly/Newcastle Lyons estate in Newcastle, Co Dublin was not considered for recommendation by the Council for inclusion in either of the Departments lists of unfinished estates?
REPLY:
While a number of the estates in Newcastle village are unfinished, none were considered eligible for inclusion for waiver from formerly the household charge and from 2013 onwards property tax. When assessed under the criteria for inclusion in such a list no schemes were deemed to qualify. The assessment includes: Potable water, Storm and sewage disposal, Public Lighting, Footpaths, Roads and Public Open Space. SDCC were satisfied that within the context of development to date on the various schemes that all had acceptable public infrastructure.
