FILLING OF VACANCY ON COUNTY DUBLIN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE FOLLOWING RESIGNATION OF COUNCILLOR W. LAVELLE FROM THE VEC

REPLY:

The following report was presented to the Members at the Organisation, Procedure and Finance Committee Meeting held on 21st March 2013:

"County Dublin VEC is a statutory committee which operates under the governance of a Cathaoirleach and nineteen ordinary members. The Committee is constituted under the Vocational Education Act 1930.  It covers three Local Authority areas, Fingal, South Dublin and Dun Laoghaire / Rathdown.

Members of the VEC include public/commercial/industrial representatives, staff, parent representatives and educational interests. 

South Dublin County Council is represented by the following five members on County Dublin VEC:

Councillors Caitríona Jones, Therese Ridge, Guss O’Connell, Dermot Looney, William Lavelle.

Councillor W. Lavelle has now tendered his resignation from the County Dublin VEC and it is a matter for the Council to appoint a representative to fill the vacancy.

This matter is now before the Members for their consideration."  End of Report to OP&F.

It was proposed by Councillor C. Brophy, seconded by Councillor T. Ridge and AGREED:

“That Councillor E. Coburn be nominated to fill the vacancy on the County Dublin Vocational Education Committee arising from the resignation of Councillor W. Lavelle from the VEC”.

This matter is now before the Council for approval.
