MOTION NO. 6
MOTION: Councillor A.M. Dermody
"That the Manager with the aid of a report presents to this meeting a report for discussion on the recent pollution of the Rivers Glynn/Owendoher and Dodder. I did receive confirmation directly following the event but in the days that followed it was cited in the media that there was further pollution of the River Dodder. Can the Manager confirm if there was any loss of fish and the cause of the pollution?"
REPORT:
The pollution incident in the Dodder River cited in the media was unrelated to the pollution incident in the Whitechurch (Glynn) River. The media cited incident in the Dodder River was weeks after the Whitechurch River incident and was also miles upstream of where the Owendoher/Whitechurch joins the Dodder River. The Pollution Section's Inspector was unable to pinpoint the source of the pollution in the Whitechurch River but did trace it back up towards the M50 Motorway. This pollution incident in the Whitechurch River did not result in any fish kill or temporary damage to the environmemnt of the river.
