COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
Monday, April 08, 2013
MOTION NO. 9
MOTION: Councillor E. Walsh 2009
Go ndéanfaidh an Chomhairle seo plean cuimsitheach chun sráidbhailte lucht scoir a chur ar fáil ar fud an Chontae agus go mbeidh feighlithe ina mbun.
That this Council shall devise a comprehensive plan to provide retirement villages throughout the County and that they have wardens in control of same.
REPORT:
Tá polasaí an chomhairle maidir le tithíocht a chur ar fáil do dhaoine aosta sa chontae leagtha amach in alt 1.2.35 - "Tithíocht do Dhaoine Aosta lena náirítear Tithe Altranais”---do Phlean Forbartha Chontae 2010/2016. Tá na polasaithe seo mar bhun ar aon togra chun tithíocht a chur ar fáil do chónaitheoirí scoth aosta.
Le líon mór d’úinéirí-áititheoirí sa chontae seo, tá an chomhairle fhabhrach ar na tithe atá ag na daoine seo cheana féin a leasú agus cóiríocht speisialta a dhéanamh orthu mar is cuí.
Ba chóir a thabhairt faoi deara gur athraigh na comhaltaí tofa an Plean Forbartha Contae chun go mbeidh muid in ann breathnú ar shraidbhaile scoir a chuir ar fáil sa Chaisleán Nua. Go dtí seo ní dhéanadh aon iarratas de bhun an t-athrú seo.
Tá an chomhairle tiomanta don choincheap an Chontae a thacaíonn le Daoine Breacaosta tríd an Ghréasán don Aosú Folláin agus tá tús déanta leis an ghréasán le tionscadal píolótacha i Ráth Cúil mar bhaile a thacaíonn le daoine breacaosta. Beidh na baill Á choinneal ar an eolas maidir leis an tionscadal seo.
The Council's policy in relation to accommodation for older people is set out in Section 1.2.35- Housing for older people including nursing homes of the County Development Plan 2010-2016. These policies form the basis for considering proposals for the accommodation of our older residents. Given the tenure of housing in this County with a substantial number of owner occupiers the Council looks favourably on adaptation of existing homes and the provision of specialist accommodation for older residents where appropriate.
It should be noted that the elected members varied the County Development Plan to allow for the consideration of a retirement village in Newcastle. To date no application on foot of this variation has been received.
This Council remains committed to the concept of the Age Friendly County through the Ageing Well Network, and has embarked, in conjunction with the Network, on a pilot project in Rathcoole as an Age Friendly Town. Members will be updated on progress in relation to this project.
