QUESTION NO. 6

QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"To ask the Manager to provide a full and detailed report including ALL statistics currently available to the Council regarding road traffic collisions at the Grange Castle Road/N4 over-bridge, including at the junctions of Grange Castle Road and the N4 on-and off-ramps, during the years 2009-2012; and to provide details of all requests for such statistics which have issued from this Council to an Gardai, the Road Safety Authority and any other third parties; and to advise on all responses received to such requests?"

REPLY:

The Gardai National Traffic Bureau, Head Office, Phoenix Park have informed the Council that the Road Safety Authority are the body with statutory responsibility for the complilation of collision statistics and they publish a 'Roads Collision Facts' book annually which can be downloaded on their website www.garda.ie .

However Council Staff have regular meetings with the Gardai at regional level where garda data is discussed. This data is not held by the Council.
