MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

QUESTION NO. 7

QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"To ask the Manager to engage with the National Transport Authority to seek to ensure that the stretch of Grange Castle Road between the Willsbrook/Ballyowen Road and Lucan Road junctions can be included in any country-wide design study of pedestrian/cycle routes, noting its status as the key north-south corridor linking areas divided by the N4; and further noting the very low rates of  pedestrian/cycle activity to/from schools north of the N4?"

REPLY:

We have submitted a request for funding for a study of this stretch of road under the NTA STMG applications and it has not been approved so far. However we will endeavour to continue to seek approval for this design in ongoing negotiations with the NTA on concept schemes that meet the criteria for funding. We also have to await the completion of the Draft Aecom Cycle Network Study and its proposals for the Lucan area before finalising our submissions.
