COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (2)
Monday, March 25, 2013
MOTION NO. 5
MOTION: Councillor D. Looney
Cathaoirleachs Business
That this Committee requests a report on the road signage and markings in the areas of Fernhill, Hillsbrook, Muckross, Shelton and Dangan, which were identified as areas susceptible to speeding in a Traffic Calming Scheme from 2009-10 but which has not been delivered to date; and that the Committee requests that a range of possible low-cost options be investigated for these areas in the absence of funding for ramps.
REPORT:
Following extensive public consultation, the Council approved a traffic calming scheme for the Fernhill, Hillsbrook, Muckross, Shelton and Dangan areas in 2010. However, no budget has been provided for traffic calming measures since that time. The main concerns expressed during the public consultation phase were issues of speeding and rat-running through the area. The matter will be examined and a report brought to the next TMM.
