MOTION NO.7

MOTION: Councillor C. Bond

That this Council endeavours to make available, public use of the car park opposite Firhouse S.C., could the Manager also make a statement on the parks proposed completion. 

REPORT:

A car park was constructed some years ago at the Mount Carmel Park section of the Dodder Valley Park.  However, work remains to be undertaken on the perimeter of the car park to allow it to be secured against unauthorised encroachment.  It is proposed that this work will take place in 2013 subject to the identification of the necessary funding.

The remainder of this section of Dodder Valley Park will be planned to encompass a mix of active and passive recreation possibilities as well as the protection and enhancement of the biodiversity potential of the area.  The first stage of this process is the preparation of a landscape masterplan. Work will be commencing on this plan in the comming months and it will be presented for consideration by the Elected Members as soon as it is available.
