QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

"To ask the Manager if it is planned to host any music concerts or other entertainment events in Tallaght Stadium in the future, and to make a statement on the matter"

REPLY:

While there are no concerts planned at the moment, it is very much our intention to do so if and when the proper opportunity arises. Members will be aware that a concert was planned for last Summer featuring the rock band Aslan. However, the promoter involved had to cancel the event when ticket sales turned out to be insufficient to make the event financially viable.

In the meanwhile, the Council is open to the idea of hosting music and entertainment events in Tallaght Stadium. Although there are no music concerts arranged at this point in time, there will be a number of events hosted in the Stadium as part of the national tourism initiative "The Gathering."
