MOTION NO. 17

MOTION: Councillor T. Ridge

That a report be provided on the upkeep of pathways in Corkagh Park in view of deterioration of same.

REPORT:

The footpath network in Corkagh Park is generally in a good condition and is maintained on a regular basis by the Parks Section as resources permit. A number of paths within the park have deteriorated in recent years due to frequent vehicle movements i.e. the main route from the St. John’s estate entrance to the Pet Farm and the route adjacent to the walled garden. These paths were installed in the early 1980’s and now need to be re-surfaced which requires significant Capital investment. The Council is aware that dealing with this issue is a priority and this will be given further consideration in light of the available resources in the current year.
