QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
"To ask the Manager for a brief update on the Reply to Question No.13 at the LAC meeting of 26th February 2013 detailing actions being implemented to control rodent infestation in the gardens of householders in Tullyhall Green Lucan (not including details of individual properties), and the private property behind Tullyhall Estate, Lucan on lands for which a Plannning Permission has been granted to Eleveden Properties?"
REPLY:
The investigation that took place prior to the meeting of the 26th February 2013 identified some illegal dumping which Hollioake Land Ltd have responded to by removing the bags of waste dumped on their property. This investigation did not support the allegation of a rodent infestation on this land and no details have been received regarding any residents nearby who have a problem on their own property. As there are no signs to support the allegation of a pest infestation, the matter of a Public Health Nuisance on the site has been completed.
It is the responsibility of the landowner to keep their property clear of vermin. The HSE assist householders by providing the pest control service for rats but it is the responsibility of the householder to make contact with the service to arrange treatment of same.
