QUESTION NO. 16

QUESTION: Councillor T. Delaney

To ask the Manager to address the lighting issue at the top of New Road(dead end)/Newlands Road. This is a very dark and quiet corner and has become a 'hang out' area for youths in cars and also the scene of some serious anti-social activity of which the Gardai are aware. I believe an extra lamp to brighten the area would detract individuals from gathering in this corner?

REPLY:

The public lighting configuration at this location is adequate however the street lights will be inspected to insure optimal performance. It is also possible that foliage from trees at this location is obscuring some of the light, where these trees are in South Dublin County Council’s maintenance the public lighting section will consult with Parks Department as to the best approach.
