MOTION NO. 11
MOTION: Councillor B. Bonner
That the Manager presents a report on the procedure to be followed by a community group that wishes to organise a once-off clean up or a regular clean up of their area. Please include contact numbers for relevant council officials who can assist groups with the arrangements and the procedures around the following issues.
provision of bags, gloves, pickers and hi vis vests.
collection of filled bags of rubbish.
REPORT:
Community clean up applications are processed through the Social Credits programme. The application form is available on the website www.socialcredits.ie. Community clean up guidelines are available on the Council's website - this is a guide to organising a community clean up. In 2012 the Council made arrangements to locate clean up materials - litter pickers, hi-vis vests, bags, brushes and shovels in community based facilities - community centres and sports and leisure centres. The use of the material can be maximised and used by many groups - this ensures better use of the Council's resources.
Once an application is made for support for a community clean up - the applicant is contacted regarding supply of materials and arrangements agreed regarding collection of material.
