COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE
Wednesday, March 20, 2013
MOTION NO. 12
MOTION: Councillor T. Delaney
That this Committee requests the Manager to consider providing dog litter bins in and around Clondalkin Village and issue free bags as a pilot project in an effort to tackle what is a very annoying and increasing problem
REPORT:
The Council is planning to launch the Green Dog Walkers programme through the Social Credits programme in April. This programme is a community based supporting responsible dog owners in a positive way. The project is a non-confrontational friendly way of changing attitudes about dog fouling. Green Dog walkers on signing a pledge will receive a armband and bag dispenser and will be supported to actively encourage responsible dog ownership in their area. Information will be available on the social credits website www.socialcredits.ie and also circulated to all social credits applicants
There are no plans to provide dog litter bins as any litter bin can be used to dispose of dog litter.
