MOTION NO. 16

MOTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave

"That the Manager install two Residential Parking Only signs at the entrance to the houses at Woodview Cottages."

REPORT:

The Council does not install this type of signage as it cannot be enforced under the law. Parking control is prescribed under the Road Traffic Act 1994. This allows for the introduction of Control of Parking Bye Laws. As Woodview Cottages are contiguous with the Rathfarnham Village Pay and Display area the area was surveyed for inclusion in the Rathfarnham pay and display / permit parking area. Not withstanding the request for inclusion of Woodview Cottages in the pay and display area, the door to door survey carried out in April 2011 show that the majority of the residents do not want this location to be included in the Rathfarnham pay and display / permit parking area.

During previous inspections it was noted that parking on Woodview Cottages appears to be by residents, there is no apparent issue with external parking.
