QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell
To ask the Manager for a report on the operation of and numbers involved in this Council under the Work Placement Programme, redeployed Apprentices and TUS?
REPLY:
The Council has commenced the Local Training Initiative (LTI) for young travellers which will involve the temporary employment of a Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator to run the programme and the placement of up to 20 participants for 9 months.
Further Jobbridge posts are also being pursued in the following areas:
· Programme Manager Link to be Active: Under the South Dublin County Sports Partnership the person will manage the development of the Link 2B Active programme which promotes reduced cost access to local sports facilities for people on social welfare assistance. In particular the person will seek to expand the programme by linking in with the community centre network and the activities on offer through them. 1 post for 9 months advertised.
Communications Assistant: administration of SDCSP website (Wordpress), SDCSP programmes and their objectives and conducting indirect research in sourcing information materials 1 post for 9 months advertised.
· Project Assistant: supporting a new cultural diversity initiative promoting the practice of artists of immigrant and culturally diverse backgrounds and building diverse audiences, supported by SDCC, Dublin City Council and the New Communities Partnership. 1 post for 9 months commenced.
· Development & Energy Management Officer: determine the level of Energy usage of SDCC and to further map this energy usage to determine the carbon baseline for the County 2 posts for 9 months each. Interview scheduled for 5th March 2013.
CCTV Monitor Assistant: monitoring and reporting on incidents. 2 posts for 9 months each commenced.
All placements under the Redundant Apprentices Placement Scheme (RAPS) 2012 have been completed. The Council has advised FAS that we can facilitate 26 apprentices under RAPS 2013 and we are awaiting details of any eligible participants.
The TUS schemes are not open to the Council and are dealt with by the local development companies. In South Dublin it is understood that some 260 places are filled under this scheme.
