Greater Dublin Drainage update
Aoife Lawler from the GDD Project Team provided a presentation on the Greater Dublin Drainage project. Following contributions from Cllr Devine, Cllr Lahart and Ms Ruddock, Ms Lawlor responded to the questions raised by the members.

Litter fines update
Following a presentation by Yvonne Dervan, Senior Executive Officer, on litter fines update John Quinlivan, Director of Services made comment on an expected response form the courts regarding collection of monies owed for the next SPC. Following contributions from Cllr Lahart, Cllr Walsh, Cllr Hannon, Ms Kiernan, Cllr Devine and Cllr O’Connell, Ms Dervan and Mr Quinlivan responded to the questions raised by the members.

Climate Change - National Adaptation Strategy
Eddie Conroy, County Architect, provided a report on the National Climate change strategy. Mr Conroy also stated that the Councils Sustainable Energy plan is to be launched on the 21st February. Following contributions from Cllr Tuffy and Cllr Coburn, Mr Conroy responded to the questions raised by the members.
Draft Litter byelaws
A copy of draft Litter bye-laws was presented to the member by Maire Ni Dhomhnaill, specifically mentioning relevant premises and responsibilities. Mr Quinlivan noted that article 3.15 regarding deposit schemes might not be possible as it might be a national issue and that he is has consulted with the Law department to ascertain if the Council can go ahead with such a scheme. Mr Quinlivan also noted that householders/residents are not mentioned in the draft by laws and that they needed to be. Following contributions from Cllrs Lahart, Cllr Hannon, Cllr Walsh, Cllr Coburn and Cllr Tuffy and Ms Kiernan, Ms Ni Dhomhnaill and Mr Quinlivan responded to the questions raised by the members.

Ms Ruddock spoke of the IEN’s request that SDCC Environment SPC write to the Department of Environment regarding the “Putting people first” document as it doesn’t mention sustainability. Mr Quinlivan said that he would talk to Ms Ruddock separately about the matter and that if the SPC wished to write to the Minister on the matter we would do so.
Ms Ni Dhomhnail brought the Tidy Towns meeting on the 7th February at 7:30 in the Green Isle hotelto the attention of the members .
