QUESTION: Councillor G. Kenny

Of the 310 horses that were disposed of by SDCC in 2012: Can the council give a numerical breakdown of which horses were sent to the knackery and which horses were sold on to a third party?

REPLY:

380 horses were seized within the administrative area of South Dublin County Council in 2012.  64 of these horses were reclaimed.  Of the remaining 316 horses that were disposed of, 288 were euthanised and 28 were re-homed to a third party.
