MOTION: Councillor G. Kenny

That the Manager give an update on the recent traffic study that was conducted on the New Road Clondalkin, particularly in relation to the set of traffic lights that are adjacent to Mill Court Avenue. Some residents feel that the lights should be placed further down the road as you approach the turn for Cherrywood.

REPORT:

The recent traffic counts indicated that there is pedestrian usage of both the exiting pedestrian crossing and the unsignalised area at Cherrywood. Traffic counts also indicated a warrant for traffic signals at the New Nangor Rd/ Cherrywood junction. The traffic section has a scheme to signalise this junction including the provision of pedestrian facilities. No source of funding has been identified for this work.

Should this scheme proceed the existing pedestrian crossing at Mill Court would be reviewed.
