QUESTION NO. 1
QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"To ask the manager to provide an update on the refurbishment works at Pearse Bros Park."
REPLY:
Works commenced on the Council's Thermal Upgrade Programme at Pearse Brothers Park and Palmer Park in September 2012. These works include replacement of existing windows and fitting of external insulation to 22 dwellings, internal improvements (where required), improvements to common areas to improve safety, improvement works on footpaths, as well as an increase in parking spaces available. Works are scheduled for completion by mid 2013.
The works are being carried out in 4 blocks, as well as to external common areas. Works in relation to the external common areas, including the provision of extra car parking spaces for the local residents, are at an advanced stage. New footpaths have been constructed and the contractor is in the process of installing safer access ramps to the flats. Most of the new car parking spaces are now available to the residents.
New windows and front doors have been installed in all of the dwellings and the external insulation has been fitted to Block 1 (62 – 67 Pearse Brother Park). Internal works are at an advanced stage in Block 1 and are ongoing in Block 2 (71 – 76 Pearse Brothers Park) and block 3 (80 – 85 Pearse Brothers Park).
Groundworks at the rear of blocks 2 & 3 are nearing completion. The fitting of the external insulation to Block 2 is scheduled to commence shortly.
The Housing Department continues to maintain contact with both tenants and local residents throughout the construction works.
