MOTION NO. 2

MOTION: Councillor C. Bond

That this Council will reverse recent changes made to the traffic lights sequence at the Old Mill Cross Roads, cognizant of recent traffic problems at this location particularily during rush hours.

REPORT:

There have been significant alterations to the traffic signals in the area of the Old Bawn Rd / Firhouse Rd / Kiltipper Rd / Firhouse Rd West. Upon completion of the system upgrade, significant reductions to passenger journey times and increased pedestrian safety will be achieved. During the construction and installation stage, there was significant disturbance to the general traffic, for which South Dublin County Council apologises. The new installed system has only been live since Monday the 17^th of December. There will be a period of adjustment and fine tuning required before the system is fully operational and current indications show that there is a significant increase in vehicular throughput and reduced delays.
