MOTION NO. 9
MOTION: Councillor M. Corr
That the Manager outlines the timeframe for the delivery of a new all-weather facility in Jobstown Park following the award of €300,000 to South Dublin Leisure Services by way of a Sports Capital Grant and to further comment with respect to the possiblity of providing the adjacent skatepark as discussed previously.
REPORT:
Tender documentation and detailed plans for the construction of the all-weather pitches at Jobstown Park are now being prepared by the Parks Section. It is hoped to have this work finalised shortly with a view to advertising the tender in February.
Allowing for the timeframes required for the public procurement process, it is hoped to be in a position to commence works on site in early June of this year. Ground conditions are also likely to be more suitable at that time for the heavy construction works involved.
With regard to the proposed skatepark to be located on a site beside the Leisure Centre, there are currently no funds identified to enable this facility to be progressed in the short-term. However, the Council will keep the project under review and will seek to avail of any funding oportunities that may arise, for example through the Sports Capital Grant Programme.
