MOTION NO. 6
MOTION: Councillor M. Duff
That this Committee, while acknowledging the excellent work carried out by the LitterWardens and Cleansing Crews in all areas of the County, and in particular in Tallaght, calls on the Manager to redouble efforts to investigate and prevent flytipping, particularly in the Bishops field in Tymon North and the surrounding areas and to give consideration to increasing fines for littering.
REPORT:
The Council's Litter Warden for the area is aware of the dumping at Bishops Field in Tymon North which takes place at night as the green area is bordered by trees and is a quiet area after dark. There was significant drumping in this area over the Christmas period and it was inspected and interrogated by the Litter Warden, however no evidence was found. The Litter Warden will continue to monitor the area on a daily basis an where evidence is found fines and or prosecutions will be initiated under the Litter Pollution Act 1997.
