MOTION: Councillor D. Looney

That this Committee expresses its frustration at the delay in the renovation works at Tallaght Fire Station, and calls on Dublin City Council and the Department of the Environment to liaise with those working at the station to ensure these renovations are delivered speedily and in line with the expectations of firefighters based at the station.

REPORT:

Dublin City Council report that the schedule of works for both the extension to Tallaght Fire Station and the renovation works was agreed with the Building Committee of Tallaght Fire Station prior to their commencement.  The programme for the extension was due to be completed within 12 weeks and these works were completed ahead of schedule.  The programme for the renovation works was due to be completed in 16 weeks.  These renovations are completed with the exception of the toilets on the ground floor, as a decision was made with the Building Committee of Tallaght Fire Station to suspend these works until early January because staff did not want this work done over Christmas.   The only other outstanding issue is the delivery and installation of the lockers, which are due to be installed by the end of the month.
