MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

"That the Manger would explore a potential community development project to develop a new Allotments space in Waterstown Park. as a collaborative venture between Palmerston Community Council, Palmerston Foroige and SDCC."

REPORT:

There are a total of 257 allotment units in South County Dublin.  They are located at 4 sites throughout the County as follows:

1.       Friarstown, Tallaght 132 units (51%)

2.       Mill Lane, Palmerston 73 units (28%)

3.       Corkagh Park 39 units (15%)

4.       Tymon Park 13 units (5%)

The Council is currently working on the planned expansion of the allotments available in the county by providing additional units at Friarstown in Tallaght.  As can be seen from the above table, the Palmerston area is considered to be relatively well catered for in terms of allotment provision. Any future expansion in the provision of allotments in the Lucan / Palmerston area of the county will have regard to a range of factors including existing provision in the area.
