QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
"To ask the Manager for an update on preparation of the 12th Lock Area Masterplan, including in response to the motion approved the December 2012 meeting of this Committee?"
REPLY:
A Draft of the 12th Lock Masterplan is now complete in accordance with the detailed objectives set out in SLO37 of the South Dublin County Development Plan 2010-16 and is the subject of a headed item for the January meeting of the Lucan Area Committee. Progress on the Masterplan was reported at the Lucan Area Committee meetings in October and November 2012.
Motion No. 15 of the December 2012 meeting of the Lucan Area Committee was taken into consideration prior to the final stages of completion of the Masterplan. The Masterplan now includes details of the vision and framework for the extension and enhancement of Griffeen Valley Park on the southern side of the railway line as provided for under the Clonburris SDZ Planning Scheme and Local Area Plan (2008) together with proposals to extend and develop the Park with, inter alia, areas of active recreation including sports pitches and to provide links with such facilities.
The allocation, management and use of sports pitches on Council owned lands are matters for determination by the Environmental Services Department. It would be inappropriate to use a land use masterplan process for such purposes whether on public or privately owned lands.
