COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, January 22, 2013
MOTION NO. 17
MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That the Manager would provide a report on actions taken by the Council to inspect a vacant property at Chapel Hill, Lucan, (address supplied) under Derelict Sites Legislation, and if it is expected that the broken side gate will be made good at an early date, to prevent unauthorised access to the rear of the premises, which is a matter of concern to neighbouring householders in Sarsfield Park and Chapel Hill?"
REPORT:
An investigation was carried out by the Council's Area Engineer on 7th Dec 2012 and found the premises to be non-derelict. However, it was recommended that the side gate should be repaired. On 9th January 2013 a letter was issued to the owner requesting these works to be carried out. The owner of the property contacted the Council on 14th January to inform us that construction is planned to commence in approximately 4 months, and the side gate must be removed completely in order for the works vehicle to access the site. The Council's Area Engineer confirmed that if a temporary structure is erected to prevent access then this will be acceptable to the Council. The matter regarding the fallen slates is being dealt with by the Dangerous Buildings inspector.
