QUESTION NO. 5
QUESTION: Councillor G. Kenny
To ask the Manager to give an update on the provision for bottle banks in the North Clondalkin area?
REPLY:
The Environmental Services Dept has had discussions with the management of the Bawnogue Community and Enterprise Centre with a view to providing a bottle bank at that location. This site was identified as a possible replacement for the site at Bawnogue Shopping Centre which was closed at the end of 2011. Unfortunately the management of the centre have not agreed to this proposal and therefore the Council has not progressed it.
A number of potential sites for bring banks have been identified on park lands owned by the Council in the North Clondalkin area. These will be examined with regard to feasibility and cost early in the new year. The Environmental Services Dept will consider any potential bring bank site that may be proposed, so suggestions in this regard from elected members or members of the public will be gratefully received.
