QUESTION NO. 13
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
"To ask the Manager to make contact with the HSE to examine what responsibility the HSE is taking with respect to alleged problems of anti-social behaviour at a house (details supplied), noting that while the house does not form part of HSE direct-provision, the landlord has advised the local Residents' Committee that the rent is being paid by the HSE?"
REPLY:
Complaints of alleged anti social behaviour in private rented accommodation is the responsibility of the Landlord in question who is collecting rent for the property. All complaints should also be referred to the Gardai. The Private Residential Tenancies Board may also be in a position to advise in such cases.
The Community Welfare Officer, who administers the rent supplement allowance now work for the Department of Social Protection. They insist that they have no role in the investigation of anti social activity in such cases.
