MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

MOTION NO. 7

MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

Cathaoirleach's Business

"That this Committee notes the concerns of residents in Waterstown Lane, Palmerston about the road being used by car drivers as, in effect, a Park and Ride location and that the Manager would make a Report on measures the Roads Department has taken or proposes to address the problem."

REPORT:

There is evidence of long term and extensive parking on Waterstown Avenue but it was noted that cars were parked in a responsible manner, not blocking driveways and the road was passable. Double yellow lines and a stop sign and a white continuous centre line were installed at the junction of Waterstown Avenue and Old Lucan Road to prevent parking on the junction and its vicinty thus ensuring adequate sight lines at the junction. These parking measures are vigorously enforced by traffic warden from APCOA on our behalf as part of the pay and display parking scheme in Palmerston Village. Waterstown avenue is a public road and people are free to park as long as they park legally and responsibly.

Waterstown Avenue is not part of the pay and display parking scheme in Palmerston Village and if the residents want it to be included in the scheme they can put forward the request for consideration.
