MOTION NO. 19
MOTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That the Manager include in the Pearse Brother/Palmer Park flats refurbishment traffic calming ramps along the stretch of road at the Pearse Brother/Palmer Park flats."
REPORT:
Works commenced on the Council's Thermal Upgrade Programme at Pearse Brothers Park and Palmer Park in September 2012. These works include replacement of existing windows and fitting of external insulation to 22 dwellings, improvements to common areas, improvement works on footpaths, as well as an increase in parking spaces available. Works are scheduled for completion by mid 2013.
Traffic calming works were not included in the budget proposal sent to the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government and do not form part of the current contract.
During consultation meetings with local residents, concerns were expressed to the Council about the need for traffic calming measures on Pearse Brothers Park. An undertaking was given that, following completion of the Thermal Upgrade works, the Council's Housing Department and Roads Department would discuss the feasibility of providing traffic calming measures, subject to financial resources being available.
