QUESTION: Councillor G. Kenny

To ask the Manager can the council calculate how much it cost to impound seventy two horses on the October bank holiday near Adamstown?  How much monies did they receive in releasing the horses to their rightful owners?  How many horses were put down after not being claimed by their owners?

REPLY:

The cost of seizing 72 horses from The Grange, Lucan, County Dublin on the 30th October, 2012 was €27,465.70. To date the Council has received €22,852.44 in relation to these horses, and 31 Horses were disposed of in accordance with the Control of Horses Act 1996 and the South Dublin County Council (Control of Horses) Bye-Laws, 1997.
