MOTION: Councillor T. Gilligan

That this Council investigates the possibilities of implementing a live webcasting of Council meetings

REPORT:

The Council undertook to examine the posibilities of implementing live webcasting of Council meetings in 2009.  The Council spoke with other authorities in the region and worked up an approximate costing for hosting such technology.  The matter was discussed at length at the Organisation, Procedure and Finance Committee meeting in January 2010 where it was decided that the costs were prohibitive at that stage given the prevailing financial circumstances and that the possiblity would be re-visted in the future.

If the motion is agreed a further examination of the costs, options and available technologies will be conducted and the matter will be brought to a future meeting of the Organisation, Procedure and Finance Committee for consideration..
