MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO. 10

QUESTION: Councillor C. Jones

"To ask the Manager if it may be possible to provide hanging baskets in the village area of Palmerston in the summer period in order to compliment work being done by the tidy towns committee? And to ask the Manager how residents may go about availing of them?"

REPLY:

While the Parks & Landscape Services Section has no current proposals to install hanging baskets in Palmerston Village during the summer months the initiative would be a most welcome addition to the streetscape.  Consideration should be made regarding the location of baskets and if it is decided to place them on lamp posts the Committee should check with the Public Lighting Section of the Council in the first instance to see if it is feasible.  In the event that it is feasible it may be possible for the Tidy Towns Committee to avail of an Environmental Improvement Grant from the Community Services Department to undertake the works.
