MOTION NO. 3

MOTION: Councillor C. King

That this Committe calls on the Manager to provide an updated report on the legal obstacles holding up the allocation of much needed homes in the John of Gods Development and to provide some realistic timeframe for the those awaiting allocation of the properties.

REPORT:

The Council has worked very closely with St John of Gods and Respond! for a considerable period of time to bring this integrated development of social/affordable, community and care services on combined lands at Cookstown Way to fruition.   

Unfortunately there were some protracted legal issues which delayed the allocation of some homes. However these legal obstacles have now been resolved and tenancies are currently being offered by St John of Gods with input from South Dublin County Council.

It is hoped to have 9 tenants moved in by the end of this week with another 4 by Christmas, with all tenancies being filled by end of January 2013.
