"That Environmental Services would note the view of the Board of Management of Pobalscoil Iosoilde, Palmerston, that the on Street Litter Bin immediately outside the school boundary fence is causing excess litter immediately outside the school and on the school grounds and arrange to remove the bin to another location to serve the area beside the shopping centre. "

REPORT:

The litter bin in question was installed in a location close to the school entrance following representations received regarding litter in the area which arises from school pupils returning from nearby shops and discarding sweet papers etc before they enter the school grounds.  There are a number of litter bins already in place close to the shopping centre and it is not considered necessary to place an additional bin there.  The Environmental Services Dept will however examine the problem raised in this motion to see if some improvements can be made with regard to litter in the area.
