MOTION NO.7

MOTION: Councillor M. Duff

That this Committee calls on the Manager to provide a low cost BMX cycle track in Tymon Park at a suitable location that is accessable from the Tallaght, Greenhills and Templeogue sides of the Park.

REPORT:

There are no current plans to provide a BMX track in Tymon Park.  For facilities such as these it is always preferable if a local club is available in the area that has an interest in such a facility and having one constructed locally.  If a local club or group expresses an interest in a BMX track in Tymon Park the Council will arrange to meet with it to discuss how such a project might be initiated.  Such a project would require a substantial financial input by the Council as well as ongoing maintenance and these issues would have to be considered in the discussion.
