COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (1)
Monday, November 26, 2012
MOTION NO.5
MOTION: Councillor M. Duff
That this Committee calls on the Manager to take immediate action to make safe the end of the existing footpath from St Aongus Crescent to Castletymon Shopping Centre, at the rear and side of Castletymon Library. The uneven and worn tarmac is a health and safety risk to the public using that footpath, which becomes swamped and slippery after any rainfall.
REPORT:
There is substantial work involved in constructing a path at this location particularly in relation to the differences in level from one end to the other, in removing a substantial volume of material off site and altering manholes. The area has been surveyed and a possible path line established. It is intended to reinstate this area and to construct a new path when the resources to do so are available. It should be noted that there are alternative paved routes available for use at this location.
