COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, November 27, 2012
MOTION NO. 13
MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins
"That a site inspector meet with concerned residents at Woodfarm Acres Cottages, Palmerston, to discuss safety hazards on the laneway and the benefits of the installation of a gable wall (as per the planning permission conditions granted) at no. 1 Woodfarm Acres Cottages in terms of alleviating the risks being posed to residents by speeding cars and the lack of adequate turning for cars accessing the homes along this laneway and that the Manager provide a report on this matter."
REPORT:
The laneway can be inspected and any specific issue can be considered. It is noted that the lane is one vehicle in width and a 90 degree turn is required to enter and leave the lane from the Old Lucan Road. This should make it difficult for vehicles accessing premises along the short lane to speed. However, a site inspection can be arranged and observation of traffic behaviour undertaken with a view to reporting back to the Committee at a future meeting.
