SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 4
MOTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That the Manager create a new grave waste silo at Cruagh Cemetary, with closing cover for the top of the silo, and place somewhere back from the road to stop illegal fly tipping. The area close to the present waste area is being covered by wind blown waste onto their graves."
REPORT:
An inspection of Cruagh Graveyard has taken place recently and it is evident from that inspection that there is no alternative location for the waste bunker within the graveyard, as all available space is occupied by grave plots, access paths and roads. The Environmental Services Department will look at ways of addressing this problem at the current location of the waste bunker. It may be possible to improve the situation by raising the surrounding wall of the bunker, for example. The placing of a cover on the bunker may create problems with it's use and with the emptying and cleaning procedure, however this suggestion will be examined also.
